A number of important issues were touched upon during the bilateral meeting of the heads of the foreign ministries of South Ossetia and Russia. During the meeting, the Russian party noted the invariability and commitment to supporting the socio-economic development of South Ossetia and its security, South Ossetian Foreign Minister Akhsar Dzhioev said at the briefing in Tskhinval.

According to him, Russia is not changing its decision, its position regarding the independence of South Ossetia.

“The concept of Russia's foreign policy, the attitude towards South Ossetia, towards Abkhazia, assumes the development of interaction, assistance in the international expansion of contacts between the two republics. Therefore, everything remains at the same level for us, Russia is a guarantor of peace and security for us, and we will continue to develop our relations with our partner,” Dzhioev said.

According to him, since the recognition by Russia, the parties have more than 130 bilateral agreements of various levels.

“This process continues and at the moment a number of draft agreements are being developed. This indicates that we are on the right track, the most important thing for us is to maintain stability, internal political consensus and continue to systematically, step by step, building relations with Russia and with our other partners abroad,” the Minister said.

It should be noted that on October 4, a bilateral meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Foreign Minister of South Ossetia took place in Moscow.
