Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Dmitry Volvach, who arrived in Tskhinvali the day before for the opening of the canning factory, has noted that investing in agriculture is difficult, since it is a risky sector.
"When we were here in the summer, I saw how these lines were being set up. That is, it was immediately clear that this is not just collecting and storing products, but also processing them, and immediately with a unique assortment, brand. That is, it is really difficult from the point of view of business and technology," the Deputy Minister said.
According to him, the project involves the creation of more than 200 jobs.
"These are huge investments. At such an enterprise, it is necessary to very carefully study the technology, strictly monitor the situation," he said.
The Deputy Minister also drew attention to the implementation of the project to restore the apple orchard.
"Today, this is already a successful project, the garden has become in demand. As I understand, very serious reclamation work was also carried out there. The apple harvest from this garden will also be processed at the new plant as soon as it starts functioning. This is really another brand, a recognizable brand of the Republic," the Deputy Minister has noted.
According to him, he is very pleased that the Republic, its government, and the business community "very persistently and well represent the South Ossetia brand at serious venues."
"This includes the St. Petersburg Economic Forum, the Caucasus Investment Forum, and the Innoprom in Yekaterinburg. We have been actively working for two years now, and since these are the international venues, South Ossetia can also export its unique products. This is very important," Volvach has noted.
