The South Ossetian branch of the international public movement "Supreme Council of Ossetians" ("Iry Styr Nykhas") intends to take active measures to strengthen the traditions of the Ossetian people and pass them on to future generations, Leonid Tibilov, the elected head of the branch, has noted in a commentary to IA"Res".
"In a world where values and customs are changing rapidly, it is very important to preserve the culture, identity and uniqueness of our people. I am sure that traditions are not the past, but the foundation of our future," Tibilov said.
According to him, the work will also be carried out on the initiative of the head of state to establish a youth unit of the "Supreme Council of Ossetians".
"We strive to attract as many representatives of the youth audience as possible to the council. It is important to discuss and find answers to important questions concerning them together with them," Tibilov said.
According to Tibilov, the organization plans to share knowledge about the rich world of the Ossetian traditions, holidays and customs.
“The knowledge about our origins helps not only to strengthen the connection with the roots, but also to cultivate respect for the unique Ossetian culture in the younger generation. Our language is not only a means of communication, but also a real treasure trove of history and traditions of our people. It preserves the wisdom of our ancestors and embodies our identity,” he said.
The Supreme Council of Ossetians deals with social, educational, cultural, moral and economic issues of life in the south and north of Ossetia.
On October 29, at the reporting and election conference, the third President of the Republic, Leonid Tibilov, was unanimously elected by the organization’s coordinating council.
