The transfer of the platform of the International Discussions on Security in the Transcaucasia has become one of the points of discussion at the 62nd round of negotiations, State Advisor to President of South Ossetia Konstantin Kochiev said at the briefing in Tskhinval.

According to him, one of the reasons for the transfer is Switzerland's departure from the status of a neutral country.

"We see this in the example of Switzerland joining the anti-Russian sanctions. In addition, logistics issues are quite problematic. In order to get to the venue of the talks, we have to plan complex routes, since there is no direct flight from Moscow. Of course, we would like to find a more convenient place to hold the discussions, and this is our common position with our Russian and Abkhaz allies," Kochiev said.

The State Adviser noted that they had reasonably explained why they considered it important to move the venue of the talks.

"However, this issue is resolved through consensus. This means that all participants must give their consent to change the venue for the discussions. So far, no one except South Ossetia, Abkhazia and Russia has given their consent, but we will continue to raise this issue," he has emphasized.

Kochev added that there are a number of cities that can be considered as the alternative venue.

"These are the so-called UN centers. There is Nairobi in Kenya, there is Astana in Kazakhstan. A venue in Minsk would be very convenient for us, but the Belarusian capital is not one of the UN cities,” the State Adviser said.

The Speaker has noted that the Russian colleagues have already held consultations with a number of capitals and there are already proposals for a new venue for discussions on security in Transcaucasia.
