Gennady Pliev, South Ossetian citizen was abducted at around 7:00 a.m. on 4 January 2010 in the Shanghai district of Tskhinval, adjacent to the border with Georgia. According to witnesses, the abduction was made by a group of five persons.
Prosecutor General’s Office initiated a criminal case on the fact of Pliev’s abduction
The Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of South Ossetia initiated a criminal case (Art 126, RF CC) on the fact of abduction of Gennady Pliev, a staff member of the State Guard Service of South Ossetia. As reported in the press release of the Prosecutor General’s Office, “on 4 January 2010, at around 6:00 a.m., at the south-eastern part of Tskhinval, end of Sanakoev street, Gennady Gavrilovich Pliev (1976, res. 34, Sanakoev street), a staff member of the State Guard Sevice, was allegedly seized by law representatives of law enforcement bodies of Georgia on his way to the office. According to information available with the Prosecutor General’s Office, “Pliev was seriously injured during the seizure and is currently kept in one of the detention facilities on the territory of Georgia.” The Prosecutor General’s Office is carring out the investigation.
