In South Ossetia there is misstrust towards European structures, because they bear responsibility for the killings of the Ossetian people. This statement was made today by the President of South Ossetia, Eduard Kokoity, during a meeting with members of parliament of South Ossetia.
According to him, the OSCE and other structures should share with Georgia the responsibility for the events of August 2008.
"We tried to reach them and explain that the situation was leading to grave and tragic consequences and there was a need to take drastic measures to prevent this bloodshed. We have seen armored machinery brounght up to our borders upon their consent. We have seen the shameful escape and cowardly betrayal of the OSCE mission. We will never forget it. And we will keep our position. The blood of the Ossetian people is not only on the hands of Saakashvili, but also of those of European officials, of the OSCE representatives, who silently let the regime of Saakashvili get unrully. This is a principled stand of the leadership of the Republic ", stated the president.
He spoke against the permanent presence of representatives of the OSCE and the EU on the territory of South Ossetia. But there are certain points, in his opinion, when they should be invited.
"This does not mean that we are moving away from its position. We can forgive them if these structures publicly acknowledge the responsibility for the events of August 2008. But we can somehow communicate and work with them for our benefit", said the president, noting in particular the vital issue of the missing persons.
Eduard Kokoity drew the attention to the report of the independent experts of the Council of Europe.
"This is a bomb for Georgia. Everythings has been clearly explained there. And no matter how hard the West is trying to play democracy and pretend human rights defenders, they have nothing to respond to the existing arguments against them. I believe this work is extremely important and it should be continued", said Kokoity.
