On April 16, the remains of the Unknown Soldier, a participant in the Great Patriotic War, perished in 1944, were reburied at the Memorial of Military Glory in Tiraspol.
The head of the South Ossetian representative office in the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, Vitaly Yankovsky, took part in the funeral procession, memorial service for the dead, and the ceremony of laying fresh flowers.
The soldier's remains were discovered the day before during excavations near the village of Parkany. The name of the defender of the Fatherland remains unknown.
"On April 16, 2025, he passed his last journey with military honors along the main square of the capital of Transnistria, under the Victory Banner, with the honorary escort, accompanied by the top officials of the state, military personnel and future defenders of the Fatherland, clergy, public figures, the Tiraspol residents and the guests of the city who had arrived to pay last tributes to the soldier," the press service of the South Ossetian representative office in Transnistria reports.
