Comment of the South Ossetian MFA Spokesperson On the Georgian Drone's Violating the Airspace of South Ossetia
The law enforcement bodies of South Ossetia reported 14 November a violation of the South Ossetian airspace by an unmanned aircraft, which flew from Georgia, and made a reconnaissance overflight over the territory of the Republic. It withdrew just after having been shot at. Unfortunately, this is not the only case when a Georgian unmanned aircraft illegally intrudes into the airspace of South Ossetia.
This was another provocation from the Georgian side made against the background of the 56 th session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, which is ongoing these days in Warsaw. For the Georgian current regime, it has become a tradition to attract attention on the eve of or during major international events, thus relying on the support to its ambitions on the part of the western states.
It is not a secret that the political and military support from a number of states to the current fascist regime in Georgia encouranged the leadership of this state to exercise unprecedented in its treachery and cruelty military aggression against the Republic of South Ossetia in August 2008.
In this regard, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia calls on the leadership of NATO and its member states to to draw right conclusions from the events of August 2008, to take into account the findings of the EU-sponsored Independent Mission that it was Georgia who unleashed the war, and the fact that the Georgian authorities refuse to undertake legally binding commitments not to use force against South Ossetia, as well as to concentrate on influencing Georgia to aknowledge its responsibility for an act of aggression and its consequences.
