The Euro Parliament resolution (EP) with the requirement to withdraw the Russian troops from South Ossetia and Abkhazia and stop issuing the Russian passports to the citizens of these republics- is the result of ignorance or, probably, conscious ignoring of the existing realities. It has been declared the IA "Res» by the vice-speaker of the Parliament of South Ossetia Yuri Dzitstsoity, making comments on the resolution concerning the relations of the European Union and Russia, adopted on June, 9. «It`s high time for the Euro Parliament to realize that South Ossetia and Abkhazia are the recognized states, and not any Russian army have ever been on the territory of Georgia. As to South Ossetia, the Russian military base and the Russian frontier guards are stationed in our territory in full accordance with the international law, in particular, in accordance with the agreement on mutual aid and cooperation which has been signed between South Ossetia and Russia. This fact has the legal basis and any appeals are more likely of declarative nature», - the vice-speaker has declared. Dzitstsoity is convinced that the similar formulations in the resolution of the ЕP have appeared by the efforts of Georgia.
«I am sure that Georgia has applied all efforts, it has simply instigated them to make this step. Tbilisi represents itself as a victim, and the European deputies have no other information, except that misinformation they get from the Georgian side. EP proceeds from these warps and those inexact formulations which Georgia delivers them », - the member of the parliament has said. If the representatives of South Ossetia and Abkhazia had an opportunity to have a speech at the same Euro Parliament the decisions and the resolutions of this European structure would have roused more confidence. «And now I don`t trust them at all», - has declared Dzitstsoity. He has regarded the resolution of the EU as «absolutely useless declaration which will be heard by nobody and it is not clear what it has appeared for». «They have not understood hitherto that the significant geopolitical changes took place on the map of Transcaucasia and it is necessary to accept the situation », - Dzitstsoity has told. He has emphasized that despite the statements of the EuroParliament, the European Union informally recommended the businessmen to support contacts with South Ossetia and Abkhazia. «It has been declared that the official recognition will not be yet, but any business relations are quite possible. Here you have two absolutely different lines of thought», - the member of the parliament has noted. He has expressed his confidence that in due time the EP will understand all things and will listen to all the parties, including South Ossetia. «In due course the Euro Parliament, at least de facto, will recognize South Ossetia. Now they pretend that South Ossetia as the recognized state does not exist at all, but it is not so», - the vice-speaker of the parliament of the RSO has concluded. We should note that in Nizhniy Novgorod on the eve of opening the summit-the EU – Russia on 10 June, -the European Parliament has adopted a resolution concerning the relations of the EU and Russia. Among the other recommendations and requirements the EP has demanded of Russia to stop issuing the Russian passports «to the citizens of the occupied Georgian provinces of South Ossetia and Abkhazia» and «to respect the agreements with Georgia and withdraw its troops from the occupied Georgian territories».
