A round table "Iron Nykhas", attended by representatives of the Ossetian diasporas from the far and the near abroad has been held in the capital of South Ossetia. The meeting was devoted to the commemorative events timed to the fourth anniversary of the Georgian aggression against South Ossetia. The convener of the meeting was the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia.
At the round table was discussed the relationship between South Ossetia and Georgia and other states, as well as the position of the Ossetian diaspora abroad.
In his opening speech the historian in the Caucasian researches Ruslan Bzarov noted the importance of the revival of the Ossetian culture, national traditions and language.
"In Belgium, Syria, Turkey and other countries the Ossetians should speak their own language. They must realize and understand what is happening in his native land, "- said Bzarov.
Chairman of the Writers' Union of South Ossetia Meliton Kazity, in turn, stressed that what had happened in August 2008 - was the unprecedented case of the state banditry.
"Only the name of the military operation -'' Clean Field'' - describes the cruelty of this act. Not a soul should have had to remain on the soil of South Ossetia ", - he said.
Kazity shared the facts and stories about the tragic events that had taken place during the August war. In his speech Kazity also underlined the determining role of Russia in the outcome of the war and the importance of establishing good neighborly relations with Russia.
"We must be close to Russia, improve our relationship. The threat of another military invasion of Georgia in South Ossetia is still possible "- said Kazity.
The head of the Ossetian diaspora in Syria Khisham Albegty noted the severity of the offense by the Georgian leadership; at the same time he drew attention to the significant result of the past events - the attainment of independence of South Ossetia.
"The Ossetians have given their lives for freedom of their homeland. We must protect this freedom, "- he said.
The round table participants also touched upon the economic and social aspects of life in South Ossetia. Those present agreed that the construction process was delayed in the Republic, which led to painful results for the people.
"It hurts to look at what is happening. I have seen just a small number of newly constructed housing "- shared his impressions Albegty.
According to Albegty, the one of the way out of the situation is in the attraction of the Ossetian businessmen, living abroad, to the revival process of the economy in the Republic.
"We need to enact laws that these people would be able to run business here in the Republic. For South Ossetia, it will be only beneficial ", - he said.
At the meeting it was noted that the activities for spreading the truthful information by the Ossetian diaspora in many countries in August 2008 was of great importance.
The participants agreed on cooperation between the diaspora in cultural and humanitarian sphere. They discussed the possibility of improving the quality of these relationships.
Particular attention in the discussion of the Ossetian diaspora activities in the near and far abroad was paid to the situation of the Ossetians living in Syria.
Albegty told about the situation of the Syrian Ossetians and the measures needed to improve the situation.
"A year and six months we are in dire straits. The Civil War has broken out; the brothers are killing each other. We are all living in fear. A man in this situation has to flee somewhere to save their children from death, "- he said.
It was noted that in case of further deterioration of the situation in Syria, the authorized representatives of Russia and South Ossetia would take measures for the resettlement of the Syrian Ossetians in their historic homeland.
"For today about 130 people want to come to Ossetia, but if the situation becomes worse, their number will increase," - said Albegty.
At the end of the round table a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia Albina Chekhoeva has thanked the participants for the fact that in difficult times for South Ossetia they found an opportunity to convey the truth about the situation in the Republic to the international community.
Representatives of the Ossetian diaspora from the other countries have also made the statements at the meeting.
