Russian Ambassador to South Ossetia Marat Kulakhmetov presented jubilee medals "80 Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945" to three veterans - home front workers, the press service of the Russian Embassy in the Republic of South Ossetia reports.

"Ilya Arsenovich Khugaev, Zamira Aleksandrovna Gagloeva, and Boris Georgievich Dzhioev received the medals from the Ambassador's hands," the press service has noted.

Earlier, the awards were presented to three more veterans.

The early presidential elections in Abkhazia were held calmly and without any visible violations, - the head of the delegation, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Policy and Inter-parliamentary Relations Zaza Driaev summed up the work of the parliamentary delegation of South Ossetia as observers.

Scientists from South Ossetia took part in the annual International School-Conference "The Caucasus in its Past and Present: History, Archeology, Culture" in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania.

The event was held at the V.I. Abaev North Ossetian Institute of Humanitarian and Social Research and the Kosta Khetagurov in the North Ossetian State University in Vladikavkaz.

The second round of presidential elections will be held in Abkhazia in two weeks, Dmitry Marshan, Chairman of the Central Election Commission, told journalists.

“None of the presidential candidates received the number of votes needed to be elected in the first round, so the repeat voting will be held. Candidates Badra Gunba and Adgur Ardzinba will take part in it,” he said.

The Central Election Commission of the Republic will announce preliminary results of the first round of voting on Sunday.
