The XVII International Economic Forum is being held this year under the theme "Prospects for the global economy - the time for decisive actions." Republic of South Ossetia at the forum is represented by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Dmitry Medoev and Minister for Economic Development Zalina Khugati.It is planned a series of events on the top priority topics that will be discussed at the forthcoming summit of G20: stimulating investment to accelerate economic growth, public debt management, the reform of the global financial system, the sustainable development of the energy markets and the strengthening of the world trade.
The total number of confirmed participants of the Forum is 3669, among them -the BRICS countries, the U.S., EU, Japan, and United Arab Emirates - 170 members of foreign official delegations from 71 countries. As honored guests to the Forum are invited representatives from Germany and the Netherlands, the German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte.The Forum's program has included four main thematic areas: "A Global Agenda for sustainable economic growth", "Russia in Global Agenda", "New catalysts of changes" and "Series of meetings with leaders: conversations that change the world."The theme "A Global Agenda for sustainable economic growth" is dedicated to the global economy. At the sessions, united by the topic, will be discussed the main factors that determine the development of the world economy, and what measures should be taken to restructure the economy and promote sustainable growth.The second theme - "Russia in Global Agenda" is dedicated to the development of the Russian economy and the role of Russia in the global world. It will include sessions on topics such as the development of Russian industry and infrastructure, increasing the potential for competition in the global market, the development of Russian regions, improving the investment climate, the program of Russian investment and public-private partnership in the field of higher education. Within the framework of "Series of meetings with leaders: conversations that change the world" the world's leading experts in business, technology and policy will offer their views on the state of affairs in the world.Within the framework of the Forum 2013 will be traditionally held meetings of the consultative group "Business Twenties" (B20) - June 20, "Youth Twenty» (Y20) - June 18 and 19, as well as the Business Forum "Russia - ASEAN" - June 22.
