The Russian government will propose to the President to sign an agreement between the Russian Federation and the Republic of South Ossetia on the state border, reports the official website of the Cabinet of Russia.

The document has been drafted by the Russian Foreign Ministry and is aimed at strengthening friendly relations with the Republic of South Ossetia.
Under the Treaty the borderline between the Russian Federation and the Republic of South Ossetia will run along the tops of the Greater Caucasus mountain range and is designated on the topographic map, which is an integral part of the Treaty.
Under subparagraph "в" of paragraph 1 and paragraph 2 of Article 15 of the Federal Law "On International Treaties of the Russian Federation", and Article 7 of the Treaty, it is subject to ratification.
The ratification will promote the international legal formalization of the state border of the Russian Federation, as well as to implement measures to strengthen the boundary.
The document was approved at the meeting of the Government of the Russian Federation on August 27, 2013.
