Co-chairmen of the Geneva discussions on security in Transcaucasia promise to do everything possible to address humanitarian issues in the region, said at the briefing in Tskhinval the UN co-chairman of the Geneva discussions Antti Turunen. the UN, OSCE and EU representatives have arrived in Tskhinval today to discuss the agenda of the next round of Geneva talks, scheduled for June 17-18 .

"Today we have met with the participants of the Geneva discussions on the South Ossetian side, discussed the agenda of the forthcoming round - said Turunen. - We also had the opportunity to talk with representatives of civil society, including the parent of one of the prisoners, whose son is serving his sentence in a Georgian prison. And of course we will continue to do everything possible to address these issues, since they are humanitarian."
Turunen has noted that at today's meeting were also discussed security issues.
"We have discussed security issues, and agreed that the situation is stable - said Turunen. - We also discussed the issue of non-use of force, which is the key question at the Geneva discussions."
In turn, the Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy of South Ossetia for post-conflict settlement Murat Dzhioev said that at the meeting had been stressed the necessity to strengthen the work on the main document of the Geneva discussions – the non-use of force by Georgia against Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
"The main purpose of the Geneva discussions is to ensure the security of South Ossetia, and the steps to discuss security issues, are considered by us as intermediate steps on the way to our main objective," - said Dzhioev.
