Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia calls on the international community
and human rights organizations to pay attention to the human rights situation in Georgia. This is stated in the official comment of the Foreign Ministry of the Republic in connection with the statements of Western politicians about the deteriorating living conditions and human rights violation in South Ossetia.
"In recent years, at various international forums high-ranking Western politicians often claim that in the Republic of South Ossetia have been steadily deteriorating living conditions and everywhere one can observe a violation of human rights. At the same time the trustees of Georgia in the West tirelessly repeat that Georgia is a showcase of successful change and the flagship of high-democracy "- noted in the comments.
The Foreign Ministry has noted that as time has shown, the higher the West praises the Georgian democracy, the less it has supporters in the country.
"Democracy in Georgia is strongly convulsive, finding no support in the country. The West is making a great effort to instill democratic standards in Georgia, but still it is the boondoggle. So recently a citizen of Georgia knowingly violated the state border of the Republic of South Ossetia with Georgia so that his voice about the human rights disaster in Georgia might be heard. He is one of many Georgians who are persecuted for political views and are unable to achieve the protection of their rights in their own country, "- stated the Foreign Ministry.
The RSO Foreign Ministry calls on the international community and major human rights organizations to pay attention to the urgent need to rectify the more depressing human rights situation in Georgia.
"Easily forgiving Georgia all its outrages the West provides the worst service, devaluing the value of democracy among the population", - underlined the Foreign Ministry noting that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia has repeatedly drawn the attention of the international community to the fact that the new Georgian authorities, following their predecessors, rely on militarism and their policy towards South Ossetia is still revanchist.
The proof of this is that at the elections to the local authority the second place in Shida Kartli was taken by the party of Irakli Okruashvili, who in 2004-2006, as Minister of Defense of Georgia, took an active part in the hostilities in South Ossetia and personally participated in the murder of the citizen of South Ossetia.
Undoubtedly, such steps of Georgian citizens do not absolve them from responsibility in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Ossetia, and anyone who violates them will bear responsibility.
