Within the framework of IPRM the South Ossetian side has presented the information of the law enforcement agencies of South Ossetia on concentration in the Pankisi Gorge in Georgia the militants who took an active part in the hostilities on the side of the banned terrorist organization ISIS, fleeing Syria, said after a meeting of participants in Mechanisms to prevent and respond to incidents (IPRM), the head of South Ossetian delegation David Sanakoev.
According to him, currently the militants are planning to carry out armed provocations; the main targets are the Russian and South Ossetian border guards, civilians, EUMM patrols and the Georgian Interior Ministry.
"Terrorists are considering options for their kidnapping, firing at people or the territory of South Ossetia and Georgia, using mortars and small arms. The objective of the armed actions of the militants is the formation of an additional source of tension and aggravation of Russian-Georgian relations on the background of Russian operations in Syria. The coordinators of the actions of the militants are citizens of Syria, members of ISIS. "
Sanakoev said that the most likely time of carrying out armed provocations could be the coming New Year and Christmas holidays.
"We have expressed our concern about this issue, shared by the rest of the meeting participants", - said the head of the South Ossetian delegation.
He has also noted that in the course of the meeting was also discussed the resumption of the tripartite mechanism to determine the fate of the missing persons, held until last year.
"Early next year we will try to restart this mechanism, as the matter of the missing persons is very important, that was agreed by all the parties," - said Sanakoev.
At the last meeting, according to Sanakoev, it has also been studied the statistics of incidents on the border of South Ossetia with Georgia.
"During this period it was recorded 4 cases of illegal crossing of the state border by Georgian citizens, who, after appropriate procedures have been handed over to the Georgian side", - concluded David Sanakoev.
