The Georgian side, despite the military-political defeat in August 2008, did not abandon its intentions to establish its control over the territory of South Ossetia, an analysis of the secret information available to the KGB of South Ossetia testifies to this fact.
“In particular, this is evidenced by the secret document of the State Security Committee of Georgia “Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia”, the upcoming faction plan for 2016-2020, dated May 24, 2015. According to the document, “the immediate task of Georgia” is the so-called “return ща the lost territories or consolidation through financial proposals ", that is, direct bribery of the South Ossetian population," the KGB said on Monday.
The KGB has noted that the practical implementation of the plan is the new “Step to a Better Future” program developed by official Tbilisi, which contains a specific mechanism aimed at eroding the state borders of the Republic of South Ossetia, as well as destroying its political and economic sovereignty.
The KGB believes that official Tbilisi, with the support of its Western curators, continues the policy of exterminating the people of South Ossetia, moving from various forms of direct military aggression (1991-1992, 2004-2008) to integrated information, political, economic and special operations.
"We consider that the provocative actions launched by the Georgian side on August 23, which led to an illegal post, damage to the quadcopter of the General Prosecutor’s Office as a result of rifle fire in the direction of South Ossetia’s territory, as well as the statements by the Georgian politicians about further plans for implementing the “Step to a Better Future," are the signs of a classic hybrid war against the Republic of South Ossetia," the statement said.
At the same time, the main goal of the Georgian hybrid special operation, the KGB believes, is the revision of the August 2008 results.
