Murat Gassiev for the first time in his career will hold a heavyweight fight on February 29 in the United States. This was reported to the media by the athlete’s team.
"The fight is scheduled for February 29, there is an opponent. We are waiting for the signing of the contract, " the Agency interlocutor said.
Gassiev will perform in the undercard of the battle between former world champions Jesse Vargas and Mikey Garcia in Frisco, Texas. The Russian has not fought since July 2018, when he lost the final fight of the World Boxing Super Series (WBSS) to the Ukrainian Alexander Usik by the unanimous decision. After that, Gassiev decided to move to heavyweight, to return to the ring before the Russian was hampered by injuries.
The former first heavyweight World Boxing Association (WBA) and International Boxing Federation (IBF) champion, a 26-year-old Gassiev won 26 victories (19 by knockout) and had one defeat.
