South Ossetian Cabinet on Friday Extends Restrictive Measures

An extraordinary meeting of the government was held on Friday, the issue of extending the deadlines for restrictive measures related to countering the coronavirus infection COVID-19 was put on the agenda.

Due to the continuing increase in the number of diseases of the coronavirus infection COVID-19 in the states adjacent to the Republic of South Ossetia, as well as to prevent its entry into the territory of the Republic, the government extended the term of restrictive measures related to combating coronavirus infection to 23 hours 59 minutes April 26, 2020.

“In order to prevent the penetration of coronavirus infection into the territory of South Ossetia, the leadership of the Republic decided to extend the period of restrictive measures until April 26. We are closely monitoring the situation and, if necessary, we will take other additional measures,” quoted the words of the Prime Minister of the Republic, Eric Pukhaev, the press service of the government.

In addition, the distance learning form, for all educational organizations in the Republic, was extended until April 30 inclusive.

According to the Minister of Education and Science Natalie Gassieva, the distance learning does not only mean learning via Internet resources, but is defined as distance learning. The Minister also noted that grades for the fourth quarter will be set precisely for this form of training.

“Distance learning is a compulsory form of training, not the form that suits us, but in today's conditions it is an alternative that we should use,” the minister said.
