South Ossetian President Anatoly Bibilov is taking part in the plenary session of the XXIV St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
According to the press service of the head of state, on the sidelines of the Forum, President of South Ossetia and members of the Republic's delegation are meeting with politicians and representatives of the business community, as well as are visiting the stands and presentations of the Russian regions and companies represented at the Forum.
During a meeting with Ambassador of the Syrian Arab Republic to the Russian Federation, Riyad Haddad, Anatoly Bibilov addressed sincere congratulations to President Bashar al-Assad on his convincing victory in the elections, and wished the people of Syria peace and prosperity.
“We regard this victory as a triumph of justice and a political victory for the people of the Syrian Arab Republic. I would like to emphasize once again that I accept this victory of the people of Syria as a victory of the people of Ossetia,” Anatoly Bibilov said.
Anatoly Bibilov has stressed that South Ossetia has developed very good brotherly relations with Syria.
“We will be building up these relationships. We have already said that we plan to work out and complete the issue of opening the South Ossetian Embassy in the Syrian Arab Republic in the near future. I think that this step will allow us to cooperate even more efficiently in virtually all areas that we have identified in general with the President,” Bibilov said.
In turn, Ambassador of Syria to the Russian Federation Riyad Haddad thanked the President of South Ossetia for sincere congratulations addressed to Bashar al-Assad.
“I will certainly convey your congratulations to Mr. President. And I would like to express my gratitude to you personally, Mr. President, and also in your person to the Ossetian people, for standing side by side with the Syrian people in all areas, especially in political terms,” the Ambassador said.
The meeting was also attended by Ambassador of the Republic of South Ossetia to the Russian Federation Znaur Gassiev.
