A meeting of the joint commission on cooperation between the Parliament of South Ossetia and the Federation Council is being held in the Parliament of South Ossetia.
Earlier, the Chairman of the legislative body Alan Tadtaev met with a delegation from the Federation Council. The Speaker expressed hope for fruitful work.
“Our work has slowed down a bit due to the pandemic, but I am sure it will resume now. In the person of your commission, we have found understanding on many issues. I hope our work will only get stronger. I am sure that the work on today's issues will also be fruitful. South Ossetia regards the Russian Federation as its main strategic partner. Today Russia is rendering unreasonable assistance to our Republic, doing everything for our development and thanks to Russia for that,” Tadtaev said.
The head of the Federation Council delegation, a member of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, a representative from the legislative (representative) body of state power of the Republic of Crimea Sergey Tsekov, has also noted that due to the pandemic, the work has been slightly suspended, but, according to him, negotiations on some issues are still
“Indeed, because of the pandemic, we did not come to you, but nevertheless we were working on some issues. The head of the foreign relations committee came to visit us, with whom we discussed some issues. We follow the work, the contracts that must be signed. We hope for fruitful work today,” Tsekov said.
For responsible and fruitful work to support the activities of the Commission on Cooperation of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Parliament, Deputy Head of the Department of International Relations Nadezhda Dakhova
was awarded the Certificate of Honor of the Parliament of the RSO.
The delegation has included: member of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, representative from the legislative (representative) body of state power of the Republic of Crimea Sergey Tsekov, member of the Federation Council Committee on Defense and Security, representative from the executive body of state power of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic Crym Kazanokov, executive secretary of the Russian part of the Commission, Deputy Head of the Department of International Relations Nadezhda Dakhova.
The parliamentarians will discuss the issue of measures to legislatively ensure the implementation of the Treaty of Alliance and Integration signed between Russia and South Ossetia, the issue of the genocide of the Ossetian people committed by Georgia in 1920. In addition, they will discuss the issue of including the period of work in South Ossetia of the Russian citizens permanently residing in the territory of the Republic of South Ossetia in the general work experience in order to assess the pension rights of citizens.
Two more issues to be discussed at the meeting relate to the organization of medical services, including sanitary treatment, for citizens of South Ossetia who need treatment for infertility in specialized medical institutions in Russia and on the approval of the work plan of the Commission for Cooperation for the second half of 2021.
