As part of the instructions of President Anatoly Bibilov, since February 24, the power structures of the Republic have been implementing a set of measures to ensure security in connection with a sharp aggravation of the military-political situation in the Ukrainian direction and possible provocative actions of official Tbilisi, according to the statement released on Monday by the State Security Committee of South Ossetia.

"As part of these activities, the Border Service of KGB of the RSO, in cooperation with the Border Guard Service of the FSB of Russia in South Ossetia, has strengthened the security regime of the South Ossetian-Georgian border. It should be noted that similar actions have been taken by the Georgian side. The operational situation on the border has not changed in the direction of its aggravation, incidents and provocations are not recorded," the KGB said.

They noted that the situation in Georgia is generally stable. A number of opposition parties and movements held street actions in support of Ukraine, incl. in the cities of Tbilisi and Batumi. The leadership of Georgia and the local elite assessed the actions of the Russian Federation in the Ukrainian direction negatively, however, they refrain from harsh provocative statements and assessments. Georgia has not joined the sanctions against the Russian Federation.
