President Anatoly Bibilov took part in the reporting board of the State Security Committee of South Ossetia, the press service of the head of state reported.

Within the framework of the event, the results of the operational and service activities of the KGB in 2021 were discussed and tasks for 2022 were defined and set.

The KGB Chairman Oleg Shiran has noted in his report that the situation in the world cannot but affect South Ossetia.

“The ongoing systemic actions of the United States and the European Union to aggravate the situation, the recent events in Belarus and Kazakhstan, the subsequent military operation, the unprecedented pressure on international financial markets - all these security risks that have arisen for the Russian Federation have made it impossible to respond other than a special military operation in Ukraine which directly affects the situation in the Republic of South Ossetia,” said the head of the State Security Committee.

The President, after listening to the reports, has noted that the State Security Committee is the basis for protecting the state, the constitutional order and, as part of its activities, successfully carries out intelligence and counter-terrorism work, and also makes efforts to ensure economic security.

“All your work is aimed at ensuring that we are confident in the security of our state, in clear, systematic, consistent work to defend the interests of the Republic of South Ossetia. The KGB officers have done a lot of work,” Anatoly Bibilov said.

He has stressed that today it is necessary to proceed from the situation that has developed in the world, taking into account the reaction of different countries to the conduct of a special military operation.

“This concerns, first of all, the protection of the state border and prompt response to processes that may occur. Of course, we need to strive for closer cooperation with the FSB of the Russian Federation, with the Border Directorate of the FSB of Russia in South Ossetia. The information that is collected and analyzed is necessary to develop proposals that would help minimize or eliminate possible threats,” the President said.

The head of state also pointed out the need to “concentrate efforts on the direction of economic security, in the implementation of the socio- economic development program 2022-2025.

“The program was developed together with the Russian colleagues. These are serious financial investments in the economy of the Republic of South Ossetia, and these investments require exceptional attention and control for effective implementation, - Anatoly Bibilov has emphasized.
