South Ossetia wants to be together with the Russian Federation under pressure from the West, President of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov said in the interview with RIA Novosti.
Earlier, Bibilov said that a referendum on joining the Russian Federation could be held in the Republic, consultations are now underway with Russia on this topic.
“Today, based on what is happening in the world, by and large, in fact, all of Europe has risen against Russia under the leadership of America, we see this. I think that this is an understanding of community, an understanding of unity - it should be not only in the moral, in the psychological, but also in the territorial understanding of this unity. Therefore, I believe that when, on the contrary, they want to make the Russian Federation weak to some extent, we see in this association, on the contrary, a unification of forces. maybe compared to the Russian Federation, but still it is a strength. And I think that in this association there is just such a structure for determining the future of the people of South Ossetia and, of course, a structure for unification for the sake of our common future," he said.
Russia launched a military operation in Ukraine on February 24. After that, foreign countries began to impose sanctions, and companies began to massively suspend their activities in the Russian Federation. In Europe, statements are periodically heard at various levels about the refusal to import Russian oil and gas, and individual restrictions are introduced at the company level. The United States has already banned the import of Russian energy resources, including oil, and by the end of the year, the United Kingdom plans to abandon oil from Russia.
