A press conference was held in the capital of the Republic with the participation of the head of the Committee for Information and Press of South Ossetia, Maria Kotaeva, dedicated to the election campaign and its coverage in the media.

According to Kotaeva, there is great interest in the presidential elections in South Ossetia.

“There are many people who want to come to cover the elections, but the situation in the world has developed in such a way that not everyone can come. This does not apply to the Russian media. About 20 journalists will come to us. Those who have notified the Committee in advance of their desire to cover the election are already accredited. Applications continue to come in at the moment.

One of the most important political events in the Republic will be covered by TASS, RIA Novosti, the information portal of the 15th region, the North Ossetian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company "Alania" and Ossetia-Iryston, and such Russian publications as "Izvestia" and "Krasnodar News",” said the head of the Committee.

She has added that in addition to Russian reporters, all journalists planning to cover the elections, visit polling stations and the CEC press center must have accreditation with them.

As noted by Kotaeva, only a few days remain before the voting, and voters have already decided who they will vote for.

“The formation of the opinion of voters is directly influenced by the campaigning period in the media, the communication of candidates with each other during the TV debates, their interviews in state media, etc.

Since the start of the campaign period, all the state media have provided all candidates with equal conditions so that they can tell the population about the election program, explain and convince voters why they should vote for them,” Kotaeva said.

The head of the Committee has noted that at the moment the number of journalists declared to cover the elections is less than in previous campaigns.
