Russian senators will take part in monitoring the presidential elections in South Ossetia scheduled for April 10. This was reported on Thursday by the press service of the Federation Council.
"In the period from April 8 to 11, senators of the Russian Federation will be taking part in monitoring the presidential elections in the Republic of South Ossetia. The delegation will be headed by Sergei Tsekov, a member of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs," the report says.
The delegation had also included Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy Elena Bibikova and member of the Federation Council Committee on Defense and Security Krym Kazanokov.
On April 10, the current head of the Republic Anatoly Bibilov, Vice-Speaker of the Parliament Alexander Pliev, leader of the political party "Nykhas" Alan Gagloev, deputy Garry Muldarov and former deputy Dmitry Tasoev will be competing for the highest state post of South Ossetia on April 10. Bibilov was elected president in April 2017, before that he was holding the post of Chairman of the Parliament of the Republic.
