All 76 polling stations for the presidential elections in South Ossetia closed at 20.00, Kristina Avlokhova, secretary of the Republic's CEC, told the “Res” news agency.
On April 10, the current head of state Anatoly Bibilov, Deputy Speaker of Parliament Alexander Pliev, leader of the Nykhas political party Alan Gagloev, deputy Garry Muldarov and former deputy Dmitry Tasoev are competing for the highest state post of the republic on April 10.
"All polling stations have been closed and counting votes has started," Avlokhova said.
To win in the first round, one of the candidates needs to get more than half of the votes.
According to the CEC at 18:00, about 80% of citizens of the total number of voters voted in the Republic.
