President of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev received on Wednesday a delegation of the International Union of Non-Governmental Organizations "Eurasian Peoples' Assembly" headed by Secretary General of the Assembly Andrei Belyaninov, the press service of the head of state reports.
The meeting was also attended by Russian Ambassador to South Ossetia Marat Kulakhmetov, Prime Minister Konstantin Dzhussoev, Chairman of the State Customs Committee Murat Tskhovrebov and other officials.
Alan Gagloev has noted that the delegation of the Assembly arrived in South Ossetia with a noble mission, which is to unite peoples, to protect peace and establish friendly relations.
“We are happy to welcome you to South Ossetia and look forward to close cooperation. It is symbolic that the visit of the delegation fell on a significant date marked in the Republic - the Day of Courage and National Unity,” the President said.
He has also noted that South Ossetia is ready for cooperation and development of relations with organizations that are aimed at peace and creation.
“We are ready to support your ideas and initiatives. Murat Zaurovich Tskhovrebov will be representing the interests of the organization in South Ossetia, supervising its activities,” said Alan Gagloev.
The President also noted that he was especially pleased to see Ossetians in the multinational delegation.
For his part, Andrei Belyaninov thanked the head of state for the warm welcome, noting that he was determined to work seriously.
“Our Assembly unites society outside of politics. We are committed to serious work; our mission will be of a humanitarian nature. And the fact that you have noticed that there are many residents of Ossetian nationality in our organization is not on purpose, just Ossetians are people with an active civic position,” he said.
At the end of the meeting, Alan Gagloev added that he was ready to cooperate with representatives of the main strategic partner - the Russian Federation.
“For many years, the Russian Federation has been comprehensively supporting South Ossetia, helping in the formation of the Republic. The main result for today is the peace-building in our land. Infrastructure has been restored and the foundations for economic development have been laid. Life is getting better, and the people can already boldly plan their future,” he said.
