The key goal of the South Ossetian delegation at the Geneva discussions is to develop a document on the non-use of force, The EU co-chairman Toivo Klaar noted at the briefing in Tskhinval, having added that "at the same time, other delegations have other goals, and it is important that the discussions are constructive and productive."

“We have discussed at today's meeting the upcoming round, which will be held in Geneva on July 11-12. We have listened to the position of the South Ossetian party and presented our understanding and expectations from the round, given the difficult geopolitical situation,” Klaar said.

He noted that it would be useful for all participants in the discussion to show flexibility, a desire to listen to each other.

“Given the situation, most likely it will not be possible to achieve great results. But it is very important for this round to take place so that we have the opportunity to discuss the current state of affairs and hear each other,” said Toivo Klaar.

Klaar has noted that the positions that were presented today in Tskhinval will be voiced in Geneva.

“At the same time, as I have said, the points of view of other parties will also be voiced, so it is necessary that the parties show a desire to listen to each other. The fact that we will sit down at the negotiating table in Geneva is a key indicator of commitment to the non-use of force,” the co-chair has emphasized.
