Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia Akhsar Dzhioev sent a congratulatory message to Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Ivan Gil Pinto on the occasion of the 240th anniversary of the birth of Venezuelan national hero Simon Bolivar. This was reported by the press service of the South Ossetian department.
Dzhioev has noted that for the peoples of Latin America, the name of Simon Bolivar is associated with fateful events that brought freedom from colonial dependence.
"The brightest representative of his time and a legendary personality, Simon Bolivar left an indelible mark on the history of mankind. His ideas about the freedom and equality of the peoples of Latin America became the philosophy of life and struggle of such revolutionaries as Carlos Fonseca, Augusto Sandino, Ernesto Che Guevara, Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez and many other patriots. I am sure that the ideas of Simon Bolivar and his struggle for independence, equality, the right of peoples to decide their own fate will be continued," the Minister's message reads.
The head of the Foreign Ministry of South Ossetia also sent a congratulatory message to Ambassador of Venezuela to the Republic, Jesús Rafael Salazar Velasquez.
Simon Bolivar led the liberation struggle against the colonial yoke of Spain. Thanks to him, six independent states appeared on the map of Latin America - Bolivia, Venezuela, Colombia, Panama, Peru and Ecuador.
