President of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev has received a delegation of the Karachay-Cherkessia Republic, which arrived in Tskhinval to participate in the festive events in honor of the 16th anniversary of the recognition of the Republic's independence by the Russian Federation, the press service of the head of state reported.
The delegation has included Minister of Property and Land Relations of the Karachay-Cherkessia Republic Roman Baskaev, Chairman of the Committee on National Policy, External Relations, NGO Affairs and Mass Media of the People's Assembly of the Karachay-Cherkessia Republic Nauruz Temrezov and the Head of the Administration of the Khabez Municipal District of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic Timur Zhuzhuyev.
For the South Ossetian part, the meeting was also attended by the Head of the Presidential Executive Office Alan Alborov, the Head of the Tskhinval City Administration Romeo Khugaev and Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on National Policy, Culture, Religion and Mass Media Ruslan Khubezhty.
The head of state greeted the guests.
"16 years ago, the decision of the Russian Federation leadership to recognize the independence of South Ossetia became historic for us. After the decision made, peace, tranquility and prosperity came to the land of South Ossetia. Today, you are with us to celebrate another anniversary of this significant day. Let's hope that in the future there will be more good reasons to meet," he said.
For his part, Roman Baskaev thanked Alan Gagloev for the warm welcome and conveyed to him the welcoming address of the head of the Karachay-Cherkessia Republic Rashid Temrezov.
"We are glad to be with you on such an important day for South Ossetia. It is clear from the first glance that the Republic is changing for the better: good living conditions and, of course, smiling people are the proof of this. I am glad that our republics maintain such wonderful friendly relations, which, I am sure, will only be strengthening over time," he said.
In accordance with the presidential decree, Roman Baskaev, Nauruz Temrezov and Timur Zhuzhuev were awarded medals "In Commemoration of the 15th Anniversary of the Victory in the Patriotic War of the People of South Ossetia".
At the end of the meeting, the parties exchanged memorable gifts.
