South Ossetia strongly condemns the actions of Israeli, which constitute gross violation of the sovereignty of the Syrian Arab Republic and the basic norms of international law. This is stated in the statement of the South Ossetian Foreign Ministry in connection with the Israeli Air Force airstrikes in Syria.

On October 2, according to the Syrian Defense Ministry, the Israeli Air Force carried out airstrikes on targets in coastal cities in the west of the Syrian Arab Republic. As a result of the attack, three civilians were killed and three more were wounded.

The South Ossetian Foreign Ministry emphasized that the targets of the strikes once again were important civilian infrastructure facilities in Syria, and most importantly, the civilian population, among whom there are victims.

"In the context of the ongoing escalation of violence in the Middle East, such aggressive actions are unacceptable and fraught with extremely dangerous consequences," the diplomatic department has noted.

The Foreign Ministry called for strict adherence to the principle of non-use of force and the search for political and diplomatic ways to resolve the existing disagreements.

Syria recognized the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia on May 29, 2018, and on July 22 of the same year, the heads of the Foreign Ministries of Syria and South Ossetia signed the agreement in Damascus on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
