October marks four years since the establishment of the South Ossetian trade mission in Russia. During this time, the mission has made significant steps in strengthening trade and economic ties, promoting South Ossetian goods on the Russian market. Trade representative Taimuraz Goginov told about the successes achieved and plans for the future.
“Assessing the results of the mission’s work over four years, we can say that thanks to the efforts of our department, South Ossetian products that were not previously exported are now entering the Russian market. The emergence of these new products has not only increased the Republic’s export potential, but also created jobs, which is a reason for special pride,” he has noted.
The trade representative has emphasized that the main task of the mission has always been the promotion of the South Ossetian products and support for exporters.
"It is important to act exclusively in the interests of your state, so the main task of the representative office from the very beginning remains the promotion of the Republic's products on the Russian market and support for exporters," he said.
Goginov told about the significant achievements of the trade mission, including the growth of recognition of the "South Ossetia" brand.
"I think the key success is that people like Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Russia Dmitry Volvach, who called for visiting the stand of our Republic at the exhibitions where we participated, talk about the "South Ossetia" brand. This indicates that this is our joint success with the Ministry of Economic Development," he said.
He has noted that thanks to the work of the Ministry of Economic Development and the trade mission, the South Ossetian brand has appeared on the Russian market, this is the product of the enterprise LLC "Ironsaen Winery", a novelty - beer from South Ossetia.
"As you know, the Kel Brewery is a young enterprise that has joined the ranks of the established exporters, is beginning to show its export potential and demonstrates that very decent and natural beer is brewed in South Ossetia," Goginov said.
The representative office also plans to expand the Republic's export line.
"Russian banks are showing interest in the Republic, providing preferential loans, which indicate the growing attractiveness of South Ossetia for investors. In the near future, it is planned to add a canning plant to the list of exporters, as well as agricultural enterprises that will supply their products to Russia," Goginov has shared.
In the future, the trade mission intends not only to expand its export positions, but also to develop the Republic's tourism potential.
"Both our President Alan Eduardovich and Ministry of Economic Development of South Ossetia pay great attention to this," the trade representative has emphasized.
According to Goginov, there is still much work to be done, and he called on both the South Ossetian and Russian businesses to participate more actively in the investment projects in South Ossetia. Goginov has also noted that conditions for economic development are being created in the Republic, and South Ossetia is becoming increasingly attractive to investors.
