Today inauguration of the first international post office "Mail of South Ossetia" has been held in Tskhinval. The event was attended by representatives of the Government of South Ossetia and the Russian presidential administration, the leadership of the Office of the Federal Postal Service in North Ossetia, management and employees of the Republican SUE "Postal and Telegraph Services of South Ossetia" and administration of the Federal SUE "Mail of Russia".

A solemn meeting to celebrate the occasion of the Day of the Defender of the Fatherland
was held today in the Russian 4th military base in Tskhinval. The meeting was attended by representatives of the South Ossetian leadership, headed by the Acting President of the Republic Vadim Brovtsev. The Russian Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov read out the order to the contingent of the military unit, in which the Defense Minister congratulated all Russian troops on the Day of the Defender of the Fatherland and wished all veterans of the World War II and the combat operations good health, prosperity and success, cultivating in the younger generation the traditions of serving the Fatherland faithfully.

The Сentral Election Committee of South Ossetia has registered ex-chairman of KGB Leonid Tibilov as the candidate for president of the Republic. As IA "RES" was informed at the Central Electoral Committee of the RSO, «after receiving a certificate of registration, the candidate will acquire a right to start pre-election activities, including propaganda, meetings with the population and so on».

Four presidential aspirants of South Ossetia have passed today the exam in revealing the state languages level of proficiency. In total, eight people have taken the examination. As reported to IA "Res" by the Central Election Committee, the following applicants have passed a test: Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Ossetia to Russia, Dmitry Medoev, the former presidential representative in the RSO Parliament Tarzan Kokoity, the employee of the State Security Service Sergei Pliev and chief bailiff of the Ministry of Justice Sergei Bitiev. Ex-Chairman of the Committee of Transportation Maurice Sanakoev, entrepreneur Oleg Kozaev, Chairman of the Judo Federation Inal Dzukaev and former head of Dzausky district Pavel Kumaritov have not coped with the proposed linguistic committee task.

The Central Election Committee of South Ossetia has accepted today subscription lists from the action groups nominating ex- Chairman of the Committee of Transportation Maurice Sanakoev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Ossetia to the RF Dmitry Medoev and chief bailiff of the Ministry of Justice Sergei Bitiev as the presidential candidates.

The presence of the Russian troops in South Ossetia is guarantee of peace and creation of the Republic. It has been said to journalists by the Acting President of South Ossetia Vadim Brovtsev after the solemn parade held in the territory of the fourth Russian military base in Tskhinval on the third anniversary of formation of the base. "Today we can state unequivocally that presence of the Russian troops in a territory of the Republic of South Ossetia is guarantee of peace, creation and restoration of peaceful life in our independent country", -Acting President has said. He has noted that there is friendly and trust relationship between Russian soldiers and population of South Ossetia, as well as the Russian-South Ossetian relations are in general.

Since the beginning of 2012 employees of the FSS Border Control Agency of Russia in South Ossetia have detained more than 15 violators of the state border of South Ossetia and Georgia. As reported to IA "Res" at the press service of the FSS Border Control Agency of Russia in South Ossetia, the detainees - mostly citizens of Georgia - violated the state border with the economic and domestic purposes.

Presidential elections in South Ossetia must be held March 25, 2011 in accordance with the current legislation and decisions of the Supreme Court and Parliament of the Republic. This has been declared by the Acting President of South Ossetia Vadim Brovtsev at the briefing in Tskhinval after the meeting with ex-presidential candidate Alla Dzhioeva. Acting President has pointed out that Alla Dzhioeva addressed to the public and personally to him, demanding categorically to implement supposedly legal procedures on transferring her power; she was also reporting about withdrawing her signature under the agreement between her and ex-President Eduard Kokoity on joint actions to resolve the political crisis in South Ossetia after the presidential election in November 2011. "In connection with this I have to state the following: all negotiations are meaningless if one party makes a decision alone.

The meeting of the action group for nominating the Vice-Speaker of the Parliament of South Ossetia Mira Tskhovrebova as the presidential candidate has been held in Tskhinval. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Central Election Committee. The participants of the meeting unanimously voted for nomination of Tskhovrebova for presidential elections in March.

At today's meeting in Tskhinval the action group has nominated an entrepreneur Felix Bitiev for presidential election in South Ossetia. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Central Election Committee of South Ossetia. As Felix Bitiev has reported to IA "Res", members of the action group are going to submit to the CEC the documents necessary for registration. It should be reminded, that one more meeting of the action group for nominating the Vice-Speaker of the Parliament of South Ossetia Mira Tskhovrebova as the presidential candidate has also been held in Tskhinval.
