Armwrestler of South Ossetia Soslan Gassiev became the silver medalist of the European Championship, which was held in the city of Loutraki (Greece).

As the coach of the athlete Valery Dzhioev noted, Gassiev had 12 bouts in the championship.

“He won an athlete from Georgia for reaching the semifinal, and won the European champion of last year David Daviktyan in a stubborn and very strong fight for reaching the final. In the final, he unfortunately lost the victory to his opponent,” the coach said.

In Donetsk, a bust of the Hero of the DPR, commander of the legendary Pyatnashka battalion, Oleg Mamiyev (call sign Mamai) was opened on Tuesday in the park named after Leninsky Komsomol. State Secretary - Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Grigory Karasin received on Tuesday the Ambassador of the Republic of South Ossetia in Russia Znaur Gassiev.

The South Ossetian national team will take part in the European Championship, - said Sergei Zasseev, chairman of the Committee on Youth Policy, Sports and Tourism, at a press conference. A press conference for South Ossetian journalists was devoted to this sports forum, and the head coach of the RSO national team Soslan Kochiev also answered questions from the media.

The European Championship is organized by the Confederation of Independent Football Associations (ConIFA). It will be held in Nagorno-Karabakh from June 1 to 10.
