South Ossetia's Ambassador to Russia, Znaur Gassiev, presented the Republic's state award, the Order of Friendship, to Ambassador Valery Kenyakin, Advisor to the A.M. Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund.

The ceremony took place in Moscow on the instruction of the South Ossetian President Alan Gagloev.

The highest state award was presented to the Russian diplomat for his significant contribution to the development of friendly relations between peoples and his many years of fruitful work.

South Ossetian President Alan Gagloev held a working meeting with the Republic's Foreign Minister Akhsar Dzhioev.

The main topic of discussion was the implementation of the head of state's foreign policy instructions following the government meeting held the previous day.

During the conversation, measures to strengthen cooperation with the states that had recognized South Ossetia's independence, as well as the plans to expand diplomatic contacts with other countries, were discussed.

Strengthening ties with the key Latin American partners – Nicaragua and Venezuela – is a priority for the Republic. This was stated by Akhsar Dzhioev, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia.

According to the Minister, despite the geographical distance and international pressure, relations between the countries remain very warm, and the partners confirm the steadfastness of their commitment to recognizing the Republic's independence.

President Alan Gagloev met with Yuri Kadiy, Chairman of the South Ossetian State Security Committee, and Vladimir Shchemelinin, Head of the Russian FSB Border Directorate in the Republic.

During the meeting, the current cooperation issues were discussed, as well as a number of topics related to ensuring stability and coordination of security work.

In Moscow, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of South Ossetia to Russia Znaur Gassiev met with Republika Srpska Minister of Scientific and Technological Development and Higher Education Draga Mastilović.

During the conversation, the diplomat and the Minister discussed developing and strengthening bilateral cooperation in education and science.

Draga Mastilović expressed gratitude to Znaur Gassiev for the invitation to visit the diplomatic mission and thanked him for the warm and constructive reception.

South Ossetia and the Syrian Arab Republic may begin active cooperation in the youth sphere. This was announced by the South Ossetian Foreign Minister Akhsar Dzhioev during the press conference.

According to him, the Ministry has already received proposals from the Syrian side to establish direct contacts between youth organizations in the two countries.
