On March 18, 2020, in connection with the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Georgian Aggression against South Ossetia, the South Ossetian Embassy in Russia sent a press release on the criminal act of genocide regarding the peaceful Ossetian population on March 18, 1991, the Embassy’s press service reports.

The press release states:

“On March 18, 1991, in the South Ossetian village of Ered, occupied by Georgian armed gangs, twelve civilians of Ossetian nationality were tortured.

On Thursday, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia received the Note of the Embassy of the Russian Federation to South Ossetia, which informs about the possibility to consult Russian citizens on the issues of returning to the Russian Federation (including those permanently residing in the Republic of South Ossetia) who find themselves in a difficult situation due to the spread of a new coronavirus infection, , the press service of the Foreign Ministry of South Ossetia reports.

The Ered tragedy will forever remain in our memory, because the atrocities shown on March 18, 1991 cannot be kept in the mind of a normal person, said the head of state Anatoly Bibilov at the mourning rally at the Zguder cemetery.

Ossetian genocide cannot be divided into South Ossetian and North Ossetian, the tragedy of the people is one, said the President of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov, speaking on Wednesday at the international scientific and practical conference at the South Ossetian State University dedicated to the 1920 Ossetian genocide.

South Ossetian President Anatoly Bibilov held a meeting with members of the Government following a recent meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the press service of the head of state reports.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Eric Pukhaev, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development Gennady Bekoev, Minister of Finance Aza Khabalova, Minister of Construction Eduard Dzagoev, Minister of Justice Zalina Lalieva.

Anatoly Bibilov has noted that during the meeting in Moscow a wide range of issues was discussed.

Among the tragic events and dates, with which, by the will of fate, the modern history of Ossetia was saturated, the Ered tragedy occupies a special place. On March 18, 1991, near the village of Ered, with the support of "civilians", Georgian informals put off 25 Ossetians from the Ural military vehicle belonging to the Internal Troops of the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The Treaty of Alliance and Integration between the Republic of South Ossetia and the Russian Federation, signed in March 2015, is without a doubt very important based on the desire of the people of South Ossetia to join the Russian Federation, said President of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov.

The international scientific-practical conference "Genocide of the Ossetian people" will be held at the South Ossetian State University on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, in Moscow was signed an agreement on the mutual recognition of documents confirming the fact of disability of persons dismissed from the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of South Ossetia and persons dismissed from the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, the press service of the South Ossetian Embassy reports.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia announced on Monday a decision to suspend the issuance of permits to enter the Republic for foreign citizens (except for citizens of the Russian Federation) for a month.

According to the press service of the Foreign ministry on Monday evening, the decision was made according to the order of the Chairman of the Government of South Ossetia.
