South Ossetia has paid last tributes to Marik Demeev (call sign "Zeppa"), who died heroically while serving in the line of duty in the special military operation zone.

Since July 2025, the soldier had been listed as missing in action. It was later confirmed that he had died during a combat mission. His body has only been recently recovered.

The Republic's leadership led by President Alan Gagloev, along with Russian Ambassador to South Ossetia Marat Kulakhmetov, relatives, comrades-in-arms, and hundreds of residents of the Republic attended the funeral service for Marik.

The "RT.DOK: Time of Our Heroes" festival opened in South Ossetia. The Government officials, military personnel, members of the special military operation forces, and the public gathered at the Chermen Cinema and Concert Hall.

Deputy Prime Minister Alan Dzhioev read out a welcoming address of President Alan Gagloev.

South Ossetian President Alan Gagloev held a ceremony awarding representatives of the security forces.

During the event, the head of state congratulated those present on the celebration of the days of Uastyrdzhi, as well as on the recent Day of Courage and National Unity.

The President emphasized the historical significance of November 23.

"Our modern history, the struggle for independence, began on this day. And thanks to God and the Ossetian people, today South Ossetia is the independent state, moving forward together with its strategic partner, Russia," he said.

Valery Pikalyov, Head of the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation, inspected the Lower Zaramag multi-purpose automobile checkpoint on the border with South Ossetia. This was reported by the press service of the Customs Committee of the Republic of South Ossetia.

Russian Ambassador to South Ossetia Marat Kulakhmetov presented awards to the soldiers from the Republic who had distinguished themselves during the special military operation.

The awards were conferred by decree of the head of the Donetsk People's Republic, Denis Pushilin, for courage and bravery displayed in the line of duty.

South Ossetian volunteer Alan Parastaev was posthumously awarded the DPR Medal "For Bravery," 4th Class. His father received the award from the Ambassador.

The Ambassador particularly commended Alan Parastaev's heroism.

South Ossetian leader Alan Gagloev congratulated Sinisa Karan on his victory in the Republika Srpska presidential election.

In his congratulatory message, Gagloev has emphasized that Karan's election to the highest state post is a clear sign of the high trust placed in him by the people of Republika Srpska, "who pin their hopes on him for the republic's further development and prosperity."

"We are looking forward to fruitful cooperation and the expansion of fraternal relations between our countries across a broad spectrum," the head of South Ossetia has noted.

South Ossetian Ambassador to Russia Znaur Gassiev held a working meeting with Mikhail Pogosyan, Rector of the Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI).

The agenda included the prospect of offering undergraduate and graduate programs to applicants from South Ossetia at one of the leading Russian Institute.

Rector of MAI assured the Ambassador of the Institute's readiness to provide comprehensive support in training specialists for South Ossetia.

Thousands of South Ossetian residents gathered on Sunday at the Pris Heights at the entrance to Tskhinval to mark the 36th anniversary of the start of the national liberation struggle and the Day of Courage and National Unity.

The rally was attended by President of the Republic, Alan Gagloev, Ambassador of the Russian Federation, Marat Kulakhmetov, the leadership of Parliament and the government, veterans of the struggle for independence, and public figures.

On Sunday, the Republic of South Ossetia is celebrating the Day of Courage and National Unity—one of the most important national holidays, established in memory of the beginning of the national liberation struggle of the Ossetian people in 1989.

A farewell ceremony was held in Tskhinval for Soslan Kozaev, known by the call sign "Bars," who had heroically died while serving in the line of duty in the special military operation zone.

Hundreds of residents of the Republic, comrades-in-arms, the South Ossetian leadership, led by President Alan Gagloev, and the Russian Ambassador to the Republic of South Ossetia, Marat Kulakhmetov, attended the soldier's final farewell.
