Today, February 29, 2012, the Central Election Committee of the Republic of South Ossetia has completed registration of the candidates for president of South Ossetia.
In the course of its work the CEC examined documents of 20 action groups and two political parties, nominated their candidates for the presidency.

It has been reported to IA "Res" by the CEC of the Republic. "We have examined documents of 20 action groups and two political parties, nominated their candidates for the presidency. Four of them have been registered as the presidential candidates.
The Central Election Committee registered the South Ossetian leader of the Communist Party Stanislav Kochiev as a candidate for president of South Ossetia. As IA "Res" was informed by the CEC of South Ossetia, "at the today`s meeting, the CEC made a decision to register Stanislav Kochiev as the fourth candidate for the presidency of the Republic". At the meeting it has also been made a decision to refuse the registration of the chief bailiff Sergei Bitiev and the State Security Service officer Sergei Pliev as the presidential candidates.
A presidential candidate of South Ossetia, the leader of the Communist Party of South Ossetia Stanislav Kochiev has passed today an exam in the state languages proficiency, required for registration of a candidate for the presidency. As IA "Res" was informed at the CEC of South Ossetia, Kochiev had got through the exam successfully and members of the linguistic commission made a decision to give him a pass.
The Central Election Committee of South Ossetia has registered the third candidate for president of South Ossetia-Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Ossetia to Russia Dmitry Medoev. As reported to IA "Res" by the CEC secretary Irina Gassieva, "today the CEC meeting has been held in Tskhinval, where the documents of the presidential aspirants were considered. "So the CEC made a decision to register Dmitry Medoev as the third candidate for the presidency of the Republic," - said Gassieva. Following the results of verification of the documents, the CEC refused the registration of entrepreneur Rustem Dzhioev and the CEO of insurance company "Yugosetsotsstrakh" Felix Bitiev.
Boxer from Tskhinval Marat Pliev has reached the final of the large international tournament among the youth, being held in Magnitogorsk. As reported to IA "Res" by the coach of the athlete Vitaly Slanov, "Pliev has won on points in his next most tough fight. His rival is number two in the Russian youth boxing national team. The fight ended with the score 7:4. Tomorrow, in the final Pliev will meet in the ring with a fighter from Latvia ", - said Slanov. According to him, the South Ossetian fighter is fighting in the weight class to 70 kg.
The CEC of South Ossetia has registered the second candidate for president of South Ossetia – the Human Rights Ombudsman under the President of South Ossetia David Sanakoev. As reported to IA "Res" by the CEC secretary Irina Gassieva, "today the CEC meeting has been held in Tskhinval, where the documents of the presidential aspirants were considered. So the CEC decided to register David Sanakoev as the second candidate for the presidency of the Republic."
A presidential aspirant of South Ossetia, the former presidential representative in the RSO Parliament Tarzan Kokoity has applied to the CEC that he will not participate in the presidential campaign.
As reported to IA "Res" by the CEC Chairman Bella Plieva, "the application has been submitted to the CEC today and was acknowledged." Tarzan Kokoity himself has informed IA "Res", that he is convinced of correctness of his decision.
South Ossetian boxer Marat Pliev has won on points in a preliminary fight of large international tournament among the senior young men, being held in Magnitogorsk. As reported to IA "Res" by the instructor of the sportsman Vitaly Slanov, «Pliev is performing in a weight category to 70 kg. He met with a representative of the Uzbekistan team and won him on points. The next fight of our sportsman will be held tomorrow. His rival will be the Russian boxer»,-Slanov has told.
