Recently Saakashvili has stated that in case of his win at the presidential elections in Georgia he would intend to “settle relations with Russia”. “Res” correspondent accosted RSO Foreign Minister Murat Djioev for the comments.
-In fact, the development of relations between Russia and Georgia is their own business.
However, knowing present aspirations of Georgian political elite such a statement of Saakashvili is rather doubtful. And who did derange their relations? Wasn’t it he with his entourage? For the last four years such statements were made more than once, when Georgian authorities had difficulties in coping with internal political situation. But every time groundless lunges followed against Russia and its presence in the region. I believe that presently Saakashvili is in deep waters and of course he would like to get Russia’s loyalty towards faked presidential elections held in Georgia. And even impartial western observers confirm “rough infractions, negligence and facts of intended fabrications while counting the votes”.
