The Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Tomas Hammarberg is arriving in South Ossetia 2 May with a working visit. As the Plenipotentiary for Human Rights David Sanakoev reported to IA RES, the discussions in Tskhinval will again focus on the circumstances of abduction of South Ossetian citizens by Georgian law enforcement bodies during and after the hostilities in August 2008.
“During his visit, Tomas Hammarberg is going to receive information on the circumstance of the seizure of the persons, as well as details on their whereabouts after they have been captured, available to the South Ossetian side”, said Sanakoev.
Seven South Ossetian citizens, including one under aged person, are considered by the Georgian authorities as missing, despite the fact that the South Ossetian side has a video record where representatives of Georgian law enforcement bodies are beating the abducted citizens.
