The South Ossetian delegation led by Speaker of the Republic’s Parliament, Alan Tadtaev, completed its visit to the Syrian Arab Republic on Friday, the press service of the Parliament told the Res news agency.
A delegation from South Ossetia arrived on an official visit to Damascus on May 24, where it took part in the presidential elections on May 26 as international observers.
The delegation has included head of the Presidential Executive Office Igor Kozaev, Deputy Chairman of the Parliament Vladimir Kelekhsayev, Adviser to the President Uruzmag Dzhagaev, Head of Protocol of the Presidential Executive Office Tadioz Kochiev and Head of the Translation Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sergei Tadtaev.
During his visit to the SAR, Speaker Alan Tadtaev met with the Chairman of the People's Assembly Hammud Sabbah. At the meeting, the parties discussed issues of strengthening inter-parliamentary relations between the two republics in the interests of the two friendly peoples.
The delegation of South Ossetia noted the democratic nature of the elections in Syria. During the visit, representatives of the Republic laid a wreath at the monument to the Unknown Soldier in Damascus, and also attended a reception at the Abkhazian Embassy in the Syrian Republic. Within the framework of the visit, also took place a visit to the museum in Damascus.
Bashar al-Assad won the presidential elections in Syria with 95.1% of the vote. On Friday, President Anatoly Bibilov congratulated Bashar al-Assad on his re-election as President of the Syrian Arab Republic.
