The presidential elections in South Ossetia were held in accordance with the country's Constitution, no one questions them, Vice Speaker of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Konstantin Kosachev told reporters.

"There is no doubt that the elections were held in accordance with the Constitution, the current legislation. And if I'm not mistaken, at this stage no one questions the current voting procedure - preparation for the elections, their organization," Kosachev said.

"Well, the outcome of the vote is up to the citizens of South Ossetia. We can only observe this process. We will be waiting for the second round," he has added.

After counting 95% of the votes in the presidential elections in South Ossetia, incumbent President Anatoly Bibilov has 33.5%, Alan Gagloev is ahead of him with 36.9% of the vote.

The two candidates who received the largest number of votes in the first round participate in the second round. The winner is determined by a simple majority of votes. To recognize the second round of elections successful, more than 30% of the voters included in the electoral lists must take part in the voting. The ballot papers provide the opportunity to vote against all the candidates.
