The Embassy sent the press release to all diplomatic missions accredited in the Russian Federation, as well as to the Georgian interests section at the Swiss embassy, the press service of the diplomatic mission reported.
“On August 26, 2008, Russia, as a great power, a reliable partner and a guarantor of the fulfillment of its obligations, reaffirmed its lofty mission to maintain peace and security in the region. On this day, the Russian Federation, taking into account the will of the people of South Ossetia, guided by the principles of international law, recognized the independence of the Republic of South Ossetia. This historic event has become a symbol of South Ossetia's victory over the evil perpetrated for many decades by the criminal Georgian regimes of Gamsakhurdia and Saakashvili,” the press release says.
The Embassy has noted that the noble determination of the leadership and people of Russia, who saved South Ossetia in August 2008 from destruction, will forever remain in the grateful memory of the Ossetian people.

The press release says that thanks to large-scale assistance of Russia, South Ossetia successfully solves the tasks of state building, development of the political and socio-economic foundations of the state, strengthening internal law and order and external security.
