South Ossetia sincerely hopes that the current Georgian political and military leadership will remain prudent and pragmatic and will not allow the implementation of imposed scenarios that can lead to catastrophic consequences.

This is stated in the comments of the South Ossetian Foreign Ministry regarding the statement by Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili that Georgian problems associated with ongoing claims to the territory of South Ossetia and Abkhazia should be resolved in conjunction with a future peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine.

"At the same time, Zurabishvili a priori believes that in future peace talks Russia will certainly be presented as the losing side. Against the background of the Georgian government's non-alignment with anti-Russian sanctions and the unsuccessful attempts of some "friends of Georgia" to draw it into a military confrontation with Russia, these statements made by such a high-ranking person undoubtedly indicate a serious internal Georgian political crisis," the statement says.

The Foreign Ministry of South Ossetia recommended the Georgian authorities to accept the geopolitical realities existing in the region and, on the advice of Ms. Zurabishvili, clarify for themselves where the borders of their own state lie.
