President Alan Gagloev has received the delegation of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, led by member of the Committee on International Affairs Sergei Tsekov.
The meeting was also attended by Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of South Ossetia Marat Kulakhmetov, Speaker of Parliament Alan Alborov and Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Policy and Inter-parliamentary Relations Zaza Driaev.
The head of state greeted the guests and thanked them for their active interaction with their colleagues, the presidential press service reports.
“The delegation of South Ossetia has been quite recently in Moscow. Meetings were held at the State Duma, at the Federation Council, a Cooperation Agreement was signed between the State Duma and the Parliament of South Ossetia. I know that the meetings took place in the warmest, friendly atmosphere,” said Alan Gagloev.
He has noted that the South Ossetian deputies found support on all the issues raised.
The President has also emphasized that Republic of South Ossetia is committed to developing bilateral relations with the Russian Federation.
“We support all decisions of the Russian leadership and are aimed at developing and strengthening integration ties with our ally and partner. I hope we will achieve a lot together,” he has noted.
Sergei Tsekov, for his part, has noted that contacts between Russia and South Ossetia are quite intense, and mutual understanding between them is not in words, but in deeds.
According to him, during the meetings of the delegation of the Parliament of South Ossetia in Moscow, very important issues for the Republic have been discussed.
“Valentina Matvienko has great respect for the leadership of South Ossetia and this was felt during the meeting,” the senator said.
He has noted that a regular meeting of the Commission on Cooperation between the Federation Council and the Parliament of South Ossetia was held in Tskhinval, where issues that had not been raised in a particularly substantive manner before were discussed.
“The meeting was interesting; a number of issues were identified that we had not particularly discussed before. They spoke very substantially about helping participants in the special military operation. For the second time, issues related to the development of the tourism industry have been raised. We understand that the direction is promising. All with certain results, which may not be achieved very quickly, but we are moving along a good path,” emphasized Sergei Tsekov.
Alan Gagloev thanked the guests for their attention to the issues of supporting participants in the special military operation.
“Together we are obliged to do everything possible for the guys who are participating in the special military operation, their families, and children. This is our common task. We, for our part, are also aimed at improving their conditions. I am confident that with the help of our colleagues from Russia we will be able to do this,” the President said.
He asked to convey greetings and warmest wishes to the Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko.
“We see that the approach to the issues is not protocol, but a working one. And we really appreciate this,” the head of state has noted.
The Russian delegation has also included a member of the Federation Council Committee on Defense and Security Krym Kazanokov, a member of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Building Olga Kovitidi, a member of the Federation Council Committee on Federal Structure, Regional Policy, Local Self-Government and Northern Affairs Vitaly Nazarenko and Nadezhda Dakhova, Deputy Head of the CIS Department of the Federation Council Staff.
