The number of violations of the state border of South Ossetia by Georgia and other incidents has decreased since the previous meeting within the framework of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanisms (IPRM). Following the results of the 117th meeting in the village of Ergnet, within the framework of the format, Deputy Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy of the Republic of South Ossetia for post-conflict resolution, the head of the South Ossetian delegation to the IPRM, Egor Kochiev, told reporters.

“Since December 13, the situation has been quite calm. The number of state border violations and other incidents has decreased significantly. For example, the number of incidents related to the flight of unmanned aerial vehicles and the presence of the Georgian police has decreased,” Kochiev said.
According to him, this fact was noted by both the South Ossetian and Georgian parties.

“I hope the tendency will continue. This depends on all participants, but mostly on the Georgian representatives. They should devote more time to informing the population located on the Georgian territory about the passage of the state border line and that for violating the regime and the state border they will be detained and subject to fines or criminal prosecution,” the Deputy Envoy has noted.

As added by Kochiev, the decrease in the number of violators may be due to the fact that Georgian citizens began to realize that in case of violations they would inevitably be detained and bear responsibility, often criminally.
