In Tskhinval, Children’s Ombudsmen of South Ossetia and Abkhazia signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation in the Field of Protecting the Rights and Legitimate Interests of Minors.
The document was signed by Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights of South Ossetia Aelita Dzhioeva and Commissioner for Children's Rights of Abkhazia Maktina Dzhindzholia.
Aelita Dzhioeva greeted Dzhindzholia, having noted that the fraternal peoples of Abkhazia and South Ossetia had gone through a difficult and arduous path to independence.
"We paid a very high price for our freedom, thanks to the courage and fortitude of our peoples and the heroism of the liberator soldiers, as well as the military and socio-economic assistance of the Russian Federation," Dzhioeva said.
According to Dzhioeva, the signing of the Memorandum is one of the stages of international cooperation and integration.
"This is a new stage for cooperation and friendship of a new generation between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Republic of South Ossetia," she has added.
Maktina Dzhindzholiya has expressed gratitude for the warm welcome, noting that this is her first visit to South Ossetia.
"My impressions are very positive. This is a wonderful republic, very friendly and open people," she said.
Dzhindzholiya has noted that the signing of the Memorandum is a significant event not only for the institution of the Commissioner for Children's Rights, but also for the peoples of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, "whose historical ties are closely interconnected."
"I am confident that the signing of the Memorandum will give us the opportunity to interact even more closely and better, to transfer practical experience in the direction of protecting children's rights, and we will have the opportunity to organize joint events," she has concluded.
The Commissioner for Children's Rights of Abkhazia Maktina Dzhindzholiya arrived in South Ossetia on a working visit; she will also take part in the International Medical Conference, which will be held on Monday in Tskhinval.
