Neither Bidzina Ivanishvili nor other Georgian politicians have deeply understood the tragedy of South Ossetia, the Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Republic of South Ossetia has noted, commenting on the statement of the founder of the ruling Georgian Dream party that Georgia should apologize to the Ossetians for 2008 and punish those guilty of unleashing the aggression.
“The hypocrisy of individual Georgian politicians touching on the topic of South Ossetia has long been known and knows no bounds. But even against this background, the statement of the Georgian "dreamer" citizen Ivanishvili, who is concerned with finding "strength" to apologize to the Ossetian people for the war unleashed in 2008, is surprising," the statement of the Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party says.
According to the members of the Bureau, 34 years have passed, and he (Ivanishvili) only today realized the catastrophic consequences of Georgia's crimes against South Ossetia.
"It is also clear that neither he nor other Georgian politicians have deeply understood the tragedy of South Ossetia. And this is just one of the episodes of the political games that have been played recently and are aimed at softening the rhetoric regarding South Ossetia," the Bureau of the Central Committee noted.
The Communist Party has stressed that no one believes in the sincerity of these statements.
"With what statements does he want to atone for his guilt before the Ossetian people? Who, for example, will compensate us for the colossal losses as a result of the almost 20-year war, who will return the murdered sons to their mothers, who will answer for the murdered children, women and old people, who will restore the burned villages? And in what units should we measure the moral damage caused to us?
Of course, for the sake of achieving the notorious territorial integrity, all means are good for Georgia and its politicians. But it is time to understand that freedom and independence, won with the blood of the Ossetian people, will never be a subject of bargaining! South Ossetia has made its choice finally and irrevocably,” the authors of the statement concluded.
