MIKHAIL MINDZAEV: “THE SITUATION IN THE CONFLICT ZONE IS CRITICAL”

Currently the situation in the conflict zone is critical. The escalation of the tension is done purposely, all the activities carried out by the Georgian side are meant to provoke the Ossetian side. This was announced by Mikhail Mindzsev, Minister of Interior, Republic of South Ossetia at the press-conference.

PEOPLE OF VILLAGE PRIS ARE WAITING FOR HELP FROM THE OSCE

The situation in the zone of the Georgian-Ossetian conflict remains tensed. As it is known, yesterday evening without coordinating with the local authorities and the JPKF Commander, the Georgian police moved one of it’s check points in direction of Tskhinval and blocked the road to village Pris.
The spontaneous rally of the residents of village Pris in front of the OSCE Mission continued until late evening.

The last night was very disturbing for residents of Tskhinval. Nobody remained indifferent to the fate of the residents of village Pris that were carrying out a rally in front of the OSCE Mission building.

THE OSCE MISSION IS NOT REACTING YET

The residents of village Pris frightened with the unauthorized by the sides and the Commander of the JPKF transfer of the check point of the Ministry of Interior of Georgia, met with the Ministry of Interior of the RSO, Mikhail Mindzaev. The Minister assured them that the law-enforcement bodies of the RSO will do everything possible to avoid further escalation in the conflict zone and protect the residents of the village.

THE FRIGHTENED RESIDENTS CRY FOR HELP

Today in village Pris of Tskhinavi region of the Republic of South Ossetia the special forces of the Ministry of Interior of Georgia undertook another attempt to destabilize the situation in the Georgian-Ossetian conflict zone. According to the eye-witnesses among the local residents, around 15:00 the check point of the Ministry of Interior of Georgia, supported by the special forces, without prior notification of the JPKF Commander and relevant authorities of the RSO, was shifted for 400 meters very close to the outskirts of the Ossetian village Pris.

JOINT STATEMENT OF THE PRESIDENTS OF THE REPUBLIC OF ABKHAZIA, PRIDNESTROVIAN MOLDOVAN

Republic of Abkhazia, Pridnestrovian Moldovan Republic and Republic of South Ossetia further referred as the Sides trying to prevent repetition of the armed conflicts of 1989-1993;
considering the escalation of tension around Abkhazia, Pridnestrovie and South Ossetia from the side of Georgia and Republic of Moldova and constant provocations against the peacekeeping forces;
condemning the readiness of the authorities of Georgia and Moldova to threaten the lives of people for their political ambitions;
confirming our support to the principals of peaceful political resolution of conflicts, inadmissibility of force;

JOINT DECLARATION OF REPUBLIC OF ABKHAZIA, MOLDOVAN PRIEDNESTROVIAN REPUBLIC, REPUBLIC OF SOUTH OSSETIA

Having vindicated our right to live and develop on the land that was left to us by our ancestors, our nations passed the fifteen year old stage of establishment and consolidation of it’s sovereign statehood. Time is coming for a new level of our countries development, for further growth of the welfare of our citizens, observation of their civil, social and economic rights an important guarantor of which are good-neighbor relations with all the bordering countries including Georgia and Republic of Moldova. Being guided in their foreign policy by the principles of equality, mutual respect, nonapplicability of force, the Sides continue negotiations on determining acceptable interstate relations with the Republic of Georgia and Republic of Moldova.

GEORGIA IN MILITARY FRENZY

According to the yearly report of the “Stockholm International Institute on Peace Research” the authorities of Georgia in 2005 spent 146 million dollars for purchasing of arms, which is half as much as in 2004. Georgia has surpassed all the countries of the world in spending money for arms. Besides the large scale purchases of weapons, the Georgian armed forces were presented by a number of Eastern European countries with a large number of military equipment.
